How can I start investing in crypto?
You can invest in crypto without leaving the bunq app. To get started, all you have to do is create a personal crypto wallet. Follow the steps below:
Go to the ₿ Crypto tab
Tap on Buy Crypto
Complete the verification flow for Kraken
Your wallet is now ready ✅
How can I buy crypto?
Buying crypto is super easy! Pay directly from the Bank Account of your choice and get started. Here’s how:
Go to the ₿ Crypto tab.
Tap 🔵 Buy
Choose the cryptocurrency you want to buy
Enter the amount you want to buy
Choose which Bank Account you want to use for the purchase
Slide to Buy
Done 🎉
You can also easily buy a cryptocurrency directly from its detail screen by tapping the “Buy” button at the bottom. It’s a fast and convenient way to invest.

This feature is available to users who:
Have a verified bunq Personal account;
Be 18 years or older;
Have a verified residential address;

How can I sell crypto?
Go to the ₿ Crypto tab
Tap 🟠 Sell
Choose the cryptocurrency you want to sell
Enter the amount you want to sell or “Sell All” (amount will auto-fill with your full balance of this currency)
Choose the Bank Account you want to use for the sell
Slide to sell
Done 🎉
Why can't I sell my Crypto?
Sometimes, you may not be able to sell a cryptocurrency right away. This happens when there aren't enough buyers in the market at that moment - this is called low liquidity.
Crypto liquidity is how easily a cryptocurrency can be bought or sold without causing a big change in its price. High liquidity means many buyers and sellers are active, so you can trade quickly. Low liquidity is the opposite, making it harder to complete trades.
Newly launched or less popular cryptocurrencies often have lower liquidity. This can change fast depending on market activity. Well-known cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) usually have high liquidity because they're traded frequently by many people.
Remember: Liquidity can change quickly in the crypto market. What's easy to sell today might be harder to sell tomorrow.
How can I swap crypto?
You can swap one cryptocurrency for another. For example, if you have Bitcoin and want Ethereum, you can simply swap your Bitcoin for Ethereum. Here’s how:
Go to the ₿ Crypto tab
Tap More
Select 🟢 Swap
Choose the cryptocurrency you own and the one you wanna swap it for
Enter the amount you want to swap
Slide to swap
Done 🎉
How can I set price alerts?
Stay ahead of market movements and never miss your target price. Set price alerts and get notified when a coin reaches your chosen value. Here's how:
Go to the ₿ Crypto tab
Choose the cryptocurrency you want to be alerted for
Tap the 🔔 in the top right corner
Select the price hit you want to be alerted for
Tap Create Alert
How can I delete or edit a price alert?
You can change or remove your price alerts whenever you like. Here’s how:
Go to the ₿ Crypto tab
Tap ⚙️ Settings
Select 🔔 Alerts
Select the alert you want to edit or delete
Adjust the sum or delete the alert
What is Crypto delisting?
To give you a secure crypto experience, we partner with Kraken. Sometimes, Kraken may decide to stop supporting a specific cryptocurrency — this is known as delisting. When a cryptocurrency is delisted, you will no longer be able to buy, sell, or trade it from your bunq app.
But don't worry, we've got your back. If you hold a cryptocurrency that is scheduled to be delisted, we'll always notify you, at least one week in advance, to give you plenty of time to take action.
What are my options if I hold crypto which will be delisted?
If you hold a cryptocurrency that's being delisted, you've got two simple options:
Sell or swap your crypto: You can sell the cryptocurrency or swap it for another available cryptocurrency before the delisting deadline.
Let us handle it for you: If you miss the deadline or simply don’t take any action, no problem - we'll swap your crypto holdings into another cryptocurrency at the market rate. Please note that this may take up to three months to process. In the meantime, your crypto will be securely stored in your Crypto Wallet.
Heads up: After the delisting date, you won't be able to trade the cryptocurrency. Make sure to understand your options before the communicated deadline.
Why can crypto be delisted?
Cryptocurrencies are delisted from Kraken for various reasons related to performance and regulatory compliance. These decisions help protect you and maintain a safe trading environment. A cryptocurrency can get delisted for several reasons, including:
Keeping standards high: A crypto may be delisted if it no longer meets the necessary standards for performance and security.
Protecting your assets: If a cryptocurrency has security vulnerabilities, it may be delisted to protect you from potential risks while a replacement is sorted out.
Ensuring fair practices: We only want to support projects that act in the best interest of the user community. If a project team engages in harmful behavior like market manipulation, its token will be removed.
Keeping your crypto up-to-date: If a cryptocurrency gets a new name, Kraken automatically swaps your old currency for the new one — and the old version is then delisted.
