Who can use bunq Free?
The Personal bunq Free plan can be used by anyone who wants to try the essentials to get started with bunq.
The Business bunq Free plan is only available for freelancers. Further information about the eligible legal forms can be found here.
Are my funds insured?
Of course! All funds on your bunq Free account are covered up to €100,000.00 by the Deposit Guarantee Scheme of the Dutch Central Bank.
How many Bank Accounts can I have?
As a bunq Free user, you can enjoy a combination of 3 Bank Accounts of your choice: Savings Account, Multi-currency Savings, Foreign Currency Bank Account, or a regular Bank Account.
Why was I billed €9.99?
If you have previously used the Easy Savings plan and ordered a physical copy of your Free Credit Card, you will be charged an annual maintenance fee of €9.99 until its expiry.
Do I have a card in my account?
As a bunq Free user, you have one Digital card available to you! Enjoy the convenience of using your Digital Card (Credit or Debit) without needing to transfer funds to a different bank - it's all seamless 🎉

Is there a maximum or minimum deposit?
No, the amount of the deposit is up to you!
Is deposit holding fee applicable?
As of December 1, 2022, bunq will no longer be charging a safekeeping fee at all! Check more here
When and how can I withdraw my funds from my Savings Account?
To encourage you to save the money for your next vacation, we've limited the withdrawals to 2 per calendar month. Here's how you can withdraw your funds:
Go to the Savings Tab
Tap on Withdraw
Select the total amount of your Savings Account
Select a Bank Account to withdraw the money to
Withdraw ✨

How can I switch to bunq Free from a paid plan?
Simple — it only takes a moment to switch to bunq Free:
Tap on your Profile in the top left corner
Select Plan
Go to Switch Plan and pick bunq Free
💡 To switch seamlessly to your new, bunq Free plan, here's a quick checklist to keep in mind:
Have a maximum of 3 open Bank Accounts. If you have more, just close any extra Bank Accounts before you switch.
Have a positive balance. Top up your account to make sure your balance isn't in the negative.
How can I switch my card?
On bunq Free, you get access to a free Digital Card. If you want to change your current card to a different type (Debit or Credit), it's just two simple steps:
Head over to your Cards Tab and deactivate your current Digital card
Once done, simply create a new Digital card of your choice
