We noticed that some of our users' accounts had unauthorized attempts made from them to PayPal. This happened due to an abuse of the PayPal systems. We have contacted and notified them of the abuse of their system.
If you noticed an unauthorized attempt, no worries! We blocked all the affected cards to guarantee that no further attempts can be made. You can read more about this in our Security Bulletin.
Why is my card blocked?
Our security system noticed an unauthorized attempt from your card to PayPal. This could mean that your card details are known by an untrusted party.
We blocked the untrusted merchant from attempting a payment ever again
We blocked your affected card so that it cannot be charged at any other merchant
How do I know if I was affected?
If an unauthorized attempt was made from your card, you received an email from us letting you know that your money is safe.
What should I do now?
Your account is secure! You can get back online instantly by ordering a new physical card straight in your bunq app, free of charge.

Go to the 🏡 Home tab
Tap on Add
Tap on Add Card
Choose a new Physical card and follow the flow!
You can start using the new card instantly by adding it to Google/Apple Pay in a few taps
We secured your Virtual card
To keep your money safe, we’ve updated your card number and expiry date - your old card details are no longer visible. You can only see the new card details in your Home tab.
You can continue using your Virtual cards with the new card number and expiry date instantaneously ⚡️
