You're eligible for a student discount at bunq if you're:

How do I get the student discount?
If you're a university student between the ages of 18 and 26, your discount will be activated once you provide us with your valid student ID card or proof of enrollment. Once we accept and register you student status in our system, you're all set!
Your discount will be applied on the first day of the next calendar month. So, if you're approved anytime in January, 2026, your discount will officially kick in on February 1, 2026.
What's an accepted proof of enrollment?
We'll need proof of enrollment from your educational institution in PDF format. It should always be for the current academic year, and we won't be able to accept expired proof of enrollment documents.

How do I provide my proof of enrollment?
To provide us with your proof of enrollment for the first time, tap here or follow these steps:
Tap on your Profile in the top left corner
Scroll down and tap on Plan
Select Students get bunq Elite for just €9 per month or Bank for free as a student
Tap on Upload Proof of Enrollment
Chat with Finn and upload your document
Note: This plan option will only be visible if you meet the residency and age requirements.
Do I need to verify my student status again?
Yes, once a year, we're required to re-verify your student status by requesting a new proof of enrollment. This ensures the student discount is always applied to currently enrolled students.
We'll need proof of enrollment from your educational institution in PDF format which you can upload it securely through our Support Chat. Here's how you can do this:

Tap the + icon in the bottom left of the Support chat window
Attach your proof of enrollment in PDF format
Will the student discount work if I’m on another bunq plan or in a bunq Pack?
You need to be on bunq Pro or bunq Elite for the student discount to apply. If you're currently on a different bunq plan or part of a bunq Pack, the discount won't apply, even if you’ve provided us with proof of enrollment. If you're already student meeting the discount requirements, and want to benefit from the student discount, you can change your plan by following these steps:
Tap on your Profile in the top left corner
Scroll down until you see your name
Tap on Plan
Go to Switch Plan
Choose bunq Pro or bunq Elite
What will my costs be when I’m no longer a student or turn 26?
When you either complete your higher education or turn 26, the bunq Pro plan will cost €9.99 per month, and the bunq Elite plan will cost €18.99 per month.
