We made some changes to our acceptance policy and as of the 2nd of May 2022, we won’t be able to provide our services to politically exposed users (including their relatives and close associates) as it’s not possible to open them an account in 5 minutes due to safety regulations.

This doesn’t affect users from this category who already have a verified bunq account.

Who’s considered a politically exposed person?

A politically exposed person is someone who was entrusted with an important public function during the last year and has significant decision-making power. This could be a chairperson of a political party, or the chairperson of a state owned corporation. Family relatives and close associates of such a person are also considered politically exposed.

What if I have a politically exposed person on my company’s board of directors?

If your company has a politically engaged director or Ultimate beneficial owner (UBO), we won't be able to proceed with the Business account verification in line with our updated acceptance policy.
