Currently, we're active in most countries in the European Economic Area (EEA), which you can check out below. We aim to make life easy for everyone, so our services are available for users of all ages who are in line with our Acceptance Policy. 

Availability for EEA citizens and residents

All EEA citizens who reside in one of our supported EEA countries can sign up for bunq. Our supported EEA countries are the countries where we operate. See the full list below:

Overseas territories and regions we don't operate in

We can't currently open a bunq account for residents of:

• French overseas regions in the EU: French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mayotte, and Réunion

• Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs): Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, French Polynesia, French Southern and Antarctic Territories, Greenland, New Caledonia, Saba, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Sint Eustatius, Sint Maarten, and Wallis and Futuna

Can I open a bunq account if I live outside the EEA?

You can start your signup from anywhere in the world, and finish it once you move to one of our supported EEA countries. If you're signing up from outside the EEA, we'll ask you to:

1. Select the EEA country you're moving to

2. Enter the date you're moving

3. Allow notifications

And that's all we need! On your moving date, you get a push notification and an email that takes you back to your signup, so you can finish it and open your bunq account.

I'm not moving to the EEA. What can I do?

You can join the waitlist for your country, and we'll let you know as soon as we launch there! Select this during your signup when you tell us you're staying where you are.

The waitlist is how we reach you on launch day: you get a push notification and an email with a link to sign up. You complete your signup and verification then.

Availability for Minors

It’s possible to open a bunq account if you're under 18 years old, if you reside within one of our supported EEA countries.

You'll need permission from a legal guardian who will also need to have an account with us before you can start using your own. Submitting the correct documents on your first verification attempt will ensure your 5-minute verification. Further information on the matter can be found here.

When can't I open a bunq account?

Currently it's not possible to open a bunq account if:

• You're under legal guardianship

• Have a pending bankruptcy

• Are under an active garnishment

What are the minimum device specs to use the app?

• iOS: 13.0+
