Your security is our top priority. We're dedicated to keeping your account, your money, and your personal data safe.

How do we keep your account safe?

We have a dedicated compliance team that ensures all bunq transactions are legal and follow our Terms and Conditions. They monitor activity and spot any suspicious behavior. Plus, we’ve added extra security features to protect your account:

  • Remote access software detection: To protect your funds, we detect remote access apps like AnyDesk. If detected, we’ll automatically place a payment limit on your account to help prevent fraud.

  • IBAN-name check: To prevent wrong transfers and fraud, we’ll ask you to verify the recipient’s name if it doesn’t match the IBAN.

  • Extra security alerts: Stay alert with notifications during risky actions, like approving a login, making a payment, or changing your daily limit.

  • Security code reset: If you reset your Security Code, all active logins will end. If you log in on a new device, you'll need to verify your identity again, which adds extra protection in case of suspicious activity.

  • Automated emergency line: If you're unable to recover access to your account, or you're on bunq Free, contact our automated emergency line at +31208083666. This lets you block your card and account in under a minute to keep your money safe.

Why was my account restricted?

Our advanced system automatically limits accounts if it detects any risk or suspicious activity. If this happens, we’ll notify you and your account will be under review.

The compliance team will review your account within 5 business days. They’ll investigate the suspicious activity and decide to either:

  • Lift the restrictions on your account,

  • Contact you for more information if needed.

If the review takes longer than expected, feel free to reach out to our Support Center.

How can I report a hacked account?

If you suspect your account has been hacked, please report it by filling out this form. Once we receive your report, our team will contact you within 2 business days with the next steps.

Note: If you don’t hear back from us after 2 business days, email us at support@bunq.com using the email address linked to your bunq account. Be sure to include all the details you have about the situation.
