If your bunq account was permanently closed because of a security risk, that means you won’t be able to open a new bunq account. Unfortunately, this isn't something our team can make an exception for. The reasons your account was closed are the same reasons we can't take you on as a user again. 

What does permanent closure mean for me?

1. Your remaining balance will become available for withdrawal. Once your funds are ready, you can withdraw them via the Withdraw funds button in your bunq app. We’ll send you a notification the moment your balance becomes available, so you never have to worry about checking yourself. 

2. Arrange banking elsewhere. So you're not left without an account, we'd recommend opening one with another bank. You’ll also need an external IBAN in order to withdraw your remaining funds from your closed bank account. 

3. Export your statements. Export your Annual Overview and Bank Account Statements before your account is deleted — you may need them for your taxes, or when opening an account at another bank.

What if I think my account was closed by mistake?

We understand you may want to contest this decision. You can email support@bunq.com with any extra information or documents that help clarify how you used your account. Once your account is closed you can no longer use in-app chat, so email is the best way to reach us. Our team will take another look at any additional evidence or information you send our way.
