Hey bunqers 🌈,
The holiday season is just around the corner, and we want to make sure your money gets where it needs to be, right on time!
During the upcoming public holidays, standard bank transfers to and from other banks within the European Economic Area may be delayed. This is because EBA Clearing, the system processing these transfers will be closed for holidays on the following days:
🎄 December 25, 2025 (Christmas Day)
🎄 December 26, 2025 (Boxing Day)
🎉 January 1, 2026 (New Year's Day)
When will my transfer arrive if I send money on these days?
Standard bank transfers sent on these days (or just before) will be processed on the next business day. This means that if you send a standard bank transfer on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 it won't be processed until the next working business day, which falls on Monday, December 29, 2025 — because the two holidays are followed by the weekend.
Will all my payments be affected by the public holidays?
Nope! This holiday schedule only affects regular standard bank transfers. Instant SEPA payments won't be affected, but if your payment was sent as a standard bank transfer, it may take more time.
All other payments and transfers will be working as usual — holidays included. You can make the following payments and expect regular processing times:
Payments between bunq accounts
iDEAL
Card payments
If you need your money to arrive immediately, you can simply use one of these options 💸
How can I avoid delays?
If you need to send money during the holidays and want it to arrive immediately, you have a few options:
Plan ahead: Send your standard bank transfer a few days earlier to avoid holiday delays.
Use Instant SEPA transfers: Your money arrives within seconds, even on holidays.
Add money to your account: You can add money to your account with iDEAL and other top add methods. Then, you can make bunq-to-bunq transfers and card payments.
