Where can I find my Legal Name in the app?

Tap on your Profile in the top left corner
Tap on Personal information
Tap on Legal Name and select your preferred choice ✅

What's the difference between my Legal Name and my Publicly Visible Name?
Your bunq Profile contains two different names, and they each serve a unique purpose. Here's how they work:
Legal Name
This is your official name that matches your ID document.
It's used for all official bank documents, including: bank statements, proof of ownership, and bank reference letters.
It's also the name you can choose to be printed on your cards. Changing your Legal Name in your Profile does not automatically update a physical card you already have. To see your updated legal name on a card, you will need to order a replacement. Find out how in: How do I order a card?
Publicly Visible Name
This is a personalized nickname of your choice for everyday use and has no legal validity.
It's shown to others during payment requests
It does not appear on official bank statements, proof of ownership, or reference letters
It can't be used as the recipient name for bank transfers. Payments sent using only your nickname will be declined, because it isn't the legal name on the account. So always share your legal name when someone needs to send you money.

How do I change my Personal Legal Name?
Tap on your Profile in the top left corner
Tap on Personal Information
Tap on Legal Name
Select I'd like to use a different name and follow the flow
A conversation with our Support Centre will automatically open here. Your personal AI assistant Finn will forward your request to the relevant team who will review your request and provide you with their decision as soon as possible ✅
Note: Keep in mind that the name displayed should match the one in your Identification Document. If your Identification Document still doesn't match that name, you should provide us with one of the following documents.
How do I change my Business Legal Name?
Switch to your Business Home Tab
Tap on your Profile in the top left corner
Tap on Company Information
Select Business Legal Name and follow the flow
A conversation with our Support Centre will automatically open here. Your personal AI assistant Finn will forward your request to the relevant team who will review your request and provide you with their decision as soon as possible ✅
Note: Keep in mind that you would be asked to attach a KvK excerpt containing the new legal name as a PDF.
Can I add my professional title to my legal name?
Indeed, you can! All you need to do is to contact our support team and provide a legal document proving your title.
For example: If you want to add Dr. to your name you can do so by providing a document proving that you claimed this title. We'll make sure to update the information accordingly in your account 🙌
