We know that losing a card or suspecting it may be compromised is stressful. That’s why we’ve made it super easy to replace a physical bunq Card directly from your bunq app.
You can replace any of these active or frozen cards:
Physical Credit Card
Physical Debit Card
For your security, it’s not possible to replace:
Digital Cards: These are digital-only, and can’t be replaced with a physical card.
Blocked Physical Cards: Blocked cards disappear from your overview, as blocking is a permanent action.
No worries though, if you’d like a new Digital Card or want to replace a blocked Physical Card, you can easily order a brand new card in a matter of seconds.
How do I replace my physical card?
Follow the steps below to replace your current physical bunq Card:
Go to the 💳Cards tab
Select the card you want a replacement for
Tap on ⚙️Settings
Select Replace Card
Edit card details (if applicable) and select Next
Review the information and select Get Your Card
Add your Card to Apple Pay to use it immediately or select Not now on the confirmation screen
You're all set, your new card is on the way!
Card replacement fees
With bunq Pro or bunq Elite plans you get one free card replacement per calendar year. Any additional card replacements come with a €9.99 replacement fee.
With bunq Core, all card replacements come with a €9.99 fee.
With bunq Free, your plan includes a Digital Card (Credit or Debit), which can’t be replaced. If you need a new one, you can simply cancel it and re-order a new card if necessary.
There is no cap on replacements that you can make in a year. You can request as many card replacements as you'd like.
When can I replace my physical card for free?
If you’re on bunq Pro or bunq Elite plan, you can get 1 free card replacement per year.
Already used your 1 free card replacement?
Anything over the one free replacement per year will cost €9.99 to account for production costs for bunq Pro and Elite users. You can find more information in our pricing doc here.
The free replacement doesn't apply to Metal Cards. Replacing Metal Cards comes with a €99 replacement fee.
Is your card about to expire?
Don't worry, we’ve got you covered. You’ll get a push notification in your bunq app asking you to confirm your current address and a new card will be sent your way, completely free of charge.
This free replacement for an expired card is an extra one, so it doesn’t count as your free replacement for the year.
Metal Card replacement fees
The replacement costs for Metal Cards always come with a €99 fee.
If you're on the bunq Pro or bunq Elite plan, Metal Card replacements don't count towards your one free card replacement per year. Additionally, the free replacement for expired cards does not apply to the Metal Card. If your Metal Card is nearing its expiration date, you can order a new one, and the standard replacement fee will apply.
What if I have an issue with my card?
If you're running into a problem with your bunq card, our Support team can look into it and may issue a free replacement. Just reach out to us if your card:
Hasn’t arrived within 2 weeks since your order.
May have gotten some extra wear and tear.
Our team will review your situation on a case-by-case basis. For all other situations, the standard replacement fees will apply.
