To make your bunq experience faster and more secure, we are improving our sign up process. Now, you can sign up for your bunq account only with your phone number.
We require a phone number for signup to improve the security of your account. While you'll need a phone number to create a new account, existing users can still log in with a confirmed email address.
What does this mean if I want to sign up for bunq?
If you’re a new user, you can use your phone number to sign up with us — it’s quick, simple and secure.
What if I have an existing account?
If you have a confirmed phone number
If you have an existing account with a confirmed phone number, you can continue logging into your account as usual.
If you have a confirmed email address
If you have an existing account with a confirmed email address but didn’t confirm your phone number yet, you can keep using the app as long as you don’t delete your app or lose access to your device.
If you lose access to your account on your mobile device - no worries! You can still, temporarily, log into your account with a confirmed email address. However, we strongly recommend to confirm your phone number in order to ensure a smooth and easy access to your account via your app.
If you don’t have a confirmed phone number or email address
If you don’t have a confirmed email or phone number and lost access to your account, your account remains active and there is still an option to login.
You can contact Support and our dedicated team will help you log in again. However, this may take some time and requires you to share proof of your identity with us. Therefore we strongly recommend confirming your phone number for a smooth experience.
