If you see a Welcome back screen when you try to sign up, this means that you already have an active or previously verified account with us. Read on below to find out how you can quickly log back in.
Why do I see a Welcome Back screen?
Welcome back to bunq! You have already signed up with bunq using this phone number before.
You can only have one bunq account. This is to make sure you don’t have duplicate accounts, strengthening the security of your account.
So, if our systems detect you already have an account, we'll redirect you to your existing account instead of creating a new one. You’ll be led to a welcome back screen, where you’re prompted to input your security code which will take you straight into a verification flow to get back to your existing account.
Why did I get a message asking me to log back into an existing account?
To keep your banking life easy and your money fully secure, we make sure every user has one single, verified account. This prevents any duplicate accounts and keeps your finances safe and sound.
If you get a message from our secure in-app Support chat asking you to log back into your existing account, this means you've previously opened an account with bunq. All you need to do is log back into your original bunq account to pick up right where you left off.
❗️We'll only ask you for your private information such as your phone number, email, Security Code, card number, or IBAN through our secure in-app Support chat. We will never call you to ask for personal information. If you’re receiving a phone call from a person claiming to be a bunq representative, hang up the phone and report this case to us.
Keeping your account secure
Once you’ve logged back into your account, you’ll need to re-verify your identity with Incode. We always ask for a re-verification when you log in through a new device or are resetting your security code to keep your account safe!
It’s fast and simple — just follow the on-screen verification flow instructions.

Make sure the document you are verifying with is up to date and not expired.

Choose your new Security Code
Confirm it
Use it to log back into your bunq account
