Hey bunqers 🌈,
To open a Business account, you’ll need to have a verified Personal account, which you can create simultaneously during the signup flow. This is because we need to know exactly who’s making or receiving payments at any time to keep all accounts secure and compliant with regulations.
Having a personal account alongside your business account makes it easier to have a clear overview on all your finances, helping you plan and budget effectively ✨
You can access your Business account by using your Personal account credentials, ensuring everything stays safe and streamlined.
Important: You can only create one Personal account with us.
Note: You can only log into your Business account using your Personal account phone number, email, and Security Code.
How do I open a Business account when I already have a Personal account?
To open a Business account when you already have a Personal account with us, simply follow these steps:
Go to the 🏠Home Tab
Go to your Profile in the top left corner
Scroll down and tap on Business under Add a New Account
Follow the registration process
Done — you opened your Business Account ✨
What if I don’t plan to use a Personal account?
If you don’t plan to actively use your Personal account, you can switch your plan to bunq Free (€0.00/month) which includes a bank account and a virtual card. This way, you can use your Business Account without needing to pay for a Personal account.
You can read about other benefits of the bunq Free plans here.
Do Directors also need a Personal account?
Yes, if you decide to add another Director to your Business account, they need to have their own Personal accounts. This is an essential step, as the invited person can only access the Business Account via their own Personal Account credentials.
To learn more about how you can invite someone to become a Director, you can find more information here.
Note: In your bunq app, a Co-Founder has the same role as a Director for your Business Account. You can invite them to help manage the account, giving them the same access and responsibilities as you. Together you can stay on top of payments, accounts, and everything your business needs.
If you’re looking to fix an issue with a Director but see the term Co-founder in the app, no worries — it’s simply another name for the same role and works exactly the same.
