If your company has more than one director or owner, we may ask each one to confirm that they agree to the Business account being opened by signing the Joint Authorization firm. By signing the Joint Authorization form, you’re authorizing:

• The opening of a bunq account for your Business

• Specific people to access, operate, and manage the account

Who needs to sign it?

This depends on where your company is registered:

• If your company is registered in the Netherlands, all jointly authorized directors need to sign the form

• If your company is registered in any other supported country (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, or Spain), all directors need to sign the form if the company has more than one director

Why do we ask for this form?

When a company has more than one director — or jointly authorized directors in the case of Netherlands-registered companies — all relevant directors need to agree on major company decisions, including opening and operating a business bank account. The form ensures that everyone is aware of and consents to the account being opened in the company's name.

💡Please note: If you're the only director, we won't ask you for a Joint Authorization form.

I’m opening the Business account. What should I do? 

Share the link to verify your company’s owners and directors with them during your Business sign up. Each owner or director can open it to confirm their identity and sign the Joint Authorization form. 

If we asked you for a signed form

The Joint Authorization form is a bunq template — download it first, have all relevant directors sign it, and then submit it to us through the app. You can find the Joint Authorization form here.  

I’m a director, how can I sign the Joint Authorization form?

If you get a link

1. Open the link you got from the person opening the Business account

2. Select your name from the list of owners and directors 

3. Confirm your phone number 

4. Follow the steps to confirm your identity with your ID card or passport

5. Tick the boxes to digitally sign the Joint Authorization form

6. You’re all set!

Once all directors have confirmed their identity and given their consent, the account is ready to open.

If you get a form to sign

Sign the form the person opening the account sends you, and send it back to them. 

How do I know the link is safe to open?

This link will always come from the person opening your company's account. Keep in mind that we’ll only ever ask you to confirm your identity, and we’ll never ask for your PIN, a password, a payment, or access to your device or screen.

We'll never call you. If someone calls and asks you to move money, hang up immediately and  report it to us. 

Is my data safe? 

Yes. Your ID check runs through our verification partner, who encrypts your data and stores it securely.

We only use it to confirm who you are. As a European bank, bunq is required to check the identity of the people who own or control a business account, and that's the only thing this data is for.

How often do I need to update this authorization?

We’ll only request an update when:

• You change directors or signatories

• You restructure the business

• We personally request as part of our periodic reviews
