Opening a Business account with bunq is easier than ever.

How do I open my Business Account?

If you already use bunq

1. Go to the 🏠 Home tab

2. Tap your Profile

3. Scroll to Add New Account and tap Business

4. Add the name of your business

5. Accept the terms and conditions

6. Work through the checklist

If your Personal account is already verified, your personal details and your identity check are already on file, so the checklist shows you only what's still missing.

If you're new to bunq

Your Personal account is created automatically during this flow, alongside your Business account. Learn more about why you need a Personal account to access your Business account.

What should I have ready before I start?

To help you get through the sign up process as quickly as possible, we recommend you keep the following documentation and info at hand:

• Your Chamber of Commerce registration number

• The names and ID documents of your other directors and board members

• The names of your business's Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs), and in some cases their ID documents. These names need to already be registered with the Chamber of Commerce, so register them there first if they aren't

• What your business does, and how you expect to use your bunq Business account

• Your Deed of Incorporation or Articles of Association, depending on your company's legal form and where it's registered

What questions will I need to answer during sign up?

We'll ask up to a maximum of 6 questions during your sign up. Two of them appear only when we need them from you, so your checklist may be shorter than this.

1. Enter personal information: your name, your address, and your contact details

2. Verify identity: scan a valid ID document and take a selfie.

3. Enter your business information:

• Your company name and registered address

• Your Chamber of Commerce activity description

• Your estimated monthly transaction volume

4. Upload business documents, only if we ask: this section appears only when we need a specific document from you, such as a Deed of Incorporation for a Dutch B.V. What we ask for depends on your country and your company's legal form, because business registers differ per country and not all of them show us everything we're required to hold on file. Your Business account can only open once everyone on this list has completed their part. If you're not the only person involved, send their requests as early as you can, because this is the most common reason an application waits. What happens after I apply?

You'll see You're all set for now, and there's nothing more for you to do until you hear from us. We start verifying your application straight away and let you know in the bunq app as soon as your Business account is ready.

If we need anything else, an extra document or a confirmation from an owner or director, the request comes to you in the app. Open your Profile to see anything still waiting on you and follow the steps there.

How long does verification take?

Most applications are verified in under 5 minutes.

It takes longer when we need extra information or documentation about your business, when an owner or director still has their part to complete, or when your company needs a manual review. How will bunq contact me during signup?

You hear from us in the bunq app, and that's the only place we ask you for anything. If an owner or director needs to confirm their identity, they get a text message with a personal link so they can complete that step on the web, which means they don't need to install the bunq app.

We never ask you for information or documents by email or by phone, and we never ask for your PIN, your password, or a payment. If someone contacts you claiming to be from bunq and asks for any of that, end the call and report it to us in the app.

Can I avoid paying for 2 plans?

Yes! You can leave your Personal account on bunq Free and pay only for your Business plan, which is exactly what bunq Free is there for if you'd like to use bunq only for your business.

Can every business open a bunq Business account?

Not every one. We have an acceptance criteria for the businesses we can take on, which protects you, your money, and the wider banking system. Reading them before you apply is also the fastest way through verification, because you'll know upfront whether your legal form and activity qualify.
