No minimum age is required, and your child's account is automatically set up on the bunq Pro plan - free of charge, with an option to upgrade to bunq Elite for additional costs. The features available to your child's account will depend on the chosen plan.
Child accounts are now available in: 🇳🇱 The Netherlands, 🇧🇪 Belgium, 🇩🇪 Germany, 🇪🇸 Spain, 🇮🇹 Italy, 🇫🇷 France, and 🇮🇪 Ireland.
Note: You can open an account for your child only if you're subscribed to the bunq Core, bunq Pro, or bunq Elite plan.
How do I open an account for my child as an existing user?
bunq Core, bunq Pro, or bunq Elite users can open up to 4 child accounts. To do so, follow these steps:
Go to the 🏠 Home Tab
Tap on your Profile in the top left corner
Scroll and tap on Add Child Account
Fill in your child's personal information
Select if you’d like to share account access with your Child
Select if you’d like to share account access with another Parent
Done — we’ll quickly verify your child’s account and it’s ready to use ✨
Your child can now download the bunq app, log into their account, and you’ll keep full visibility of their account in your Home tab.

What’s included in mine and my child’s account?

Depending on the plan you choose for your bunq account, you can also order extra cards and open additional Bank Accounts.

Scroll down and tap on Manage Parent Access
Tap on 🔵 Add Parent
Select the parent from your contacts list
Tap on Invite
What should the second parent do after the invitation?
If you’re a non-bunq user
When you invite a second parent, you’ll be prompted to send an invitation. They can then open a bunq account with us and just accept the invitation. Here are the next steps you need to follow:
Tap on the link you’ve received via SMS and accept the invite
Download the bunq app
Enter and confirm your phone number
Accept the invitation
Fill in your personal information
Note: The second parent needs to have their Personal account verified to accept the invitation.
If you’re a bunq user
You’ll get a Pending event in your Profile tab with the invite. All you have to do is accept it or decline it.
Parental roles and responsibilities for co-managing a child’s account
The first parent confirms their relationship and responsibilities to the second parent when sending the invitation. The second parent simply accepts the invitation to join and share in managing the account.
The first parent remains the main account holder and takes care of setting up and managing access.
Once the second parent completes identity verification and accepts the invitation, both parents will have equal access to manage the child’s account.
No extra documents are needed - everything is based on the first parent’s confirmation.
Both parents agree to work together and follow the shared responsibilities for co-managing the account.

Yes, it is! It’s a distinct account, but you’ll retain full access through your own Personal account. Just make sure to use a unique phone number for your child’s account.
Your child's account is automatically set up on a bunq Pro plan for free, for children under 18. You also have the option to upgrade your child's account to the bunq Elite plan for a fee of €9 month.
Features vary by plan, and age-restricted options like Stocks and Finn may not be available.
What should my child do?

What do you need to open a child account?
All you need to open an account for your child will be their Tax Identification Number (TIN) (within 90 days of signing up). After registration, you’ll need to add their phone number so your child can log in from their device. To do so, you have to simply set a Security Code with the steps mentioned below under “How to give your child access from their device?””.
How can I share my child’s Tax Identification Number (TIN)?
You don’t need to provide your child’s TIN during signup. You’ll have 90 days after account creation to submit it. To submit it, follow these steps:
Switch to your child’s account from the top of the screen
Scroll down and tap on “Add Tax ID”
Why isn’t my child’s account verified?
If your last name doesn’t match your child’s, or if you have less than 18 years of difference, we’ll ask you to provide a document proving your legal guardianship. Acceptable documents include:
Birth certification
Adoption documents
Court order establishing custody of the child
Court order establishing legal guardianship
Official documents issued by the Government or Embassy that clearly state the name of the guardian, name of the child and the relationship between the two.
Note: Make sure you provide us with a clear picture of the entire document.

Select your child’s telephone number from your contacts

A proof of relation is asked when the names of the child and the legal guardian/parent aren't the same.
The parent should have a Personal account in order to give the child permission to have an account. The child can choose any of our plans (further info on our plans can be found here)
You as a parent have full overview and access to your child's account.
