Hey bunqers 🌈,
We have been granted a Dutch banking license by the DNB, which means our standard IBANs are from the Netherlands (NL).
But whether you're signing up from another country or you're an existing user looking for more options, we make getting the right IBAN super simple.
Local IBANs
When you sign up for a bunq account on any bunq Plan from Germany, France, Spain or Ireland, the app automatically connects you to your local branch. This means you'll get a local IBAN (DE, FR, ES, or IE) right from the start. No extra steps, no hassle, just easy and secure banking!
This is available for all users on any bunq Plan (Free, Core, Pro or Elite).
International Bank Accounts
With International Bank Accounts, you can open a bank account with a German, French, Irish or Spanish IBAN, even if you live outside of those countries. International Bank Accounts are available for verified bunq Pro or bunq Elite users across the EEA.
Here's how you can open an International Bank Account:
Go to your Home tab
Tap on Add an Extra Bank Account
Select a Personal Account
Choose your preferred IBAN under Local Settings
Personalize your account
Tap on Create and you're all done!
Good to know for French IBANs 🇫🇷
If you're getting a French IBAN as your International Bank Account, you'll be asked to re-verify your identity before your French IBAN account is created. This is a standard requirement under French banking rules to keep you safe, and doesn't mean that something went wrong with your account.
Where can I find my IBAN?
To see your IBAN, follow these steps:
Go to your Home tab
Select your Bank Account
The IBAN of your Bank Account is displayed at the top of your Bank Account Details
