What is the difference?

Hey bunqers 🌈,

In order to get the full travelling experience, we've launched International Bank Accounts and Foreign Currencies. However, both features have a different way to improve your travel experience, see exactly how below.

What is the difference?

International Bank Accounts

International Bank Accounts have IBANs based on the corresponding Dutch, German, French and Spanish banking metrics and operate in Euro. This means that you open a Bank Account with one of our International Bank Accounts, your IBAN matches the nationality you've chosen. You can see more on how the International Bank Accounts work here. Important note: All the Bank Accounts you open within the app, no matter of the country code in the IBAN, are supported and opened by bunq NL.

Foreign Currencies

Foreign Currencies is a feature which gives you the opportunity to send, receive and pay in one of the many foreign currencies we currently provide. For example, you can have a South African Rand Foreign currency account, but not a South African IBAN. When you open a Foreign Currencies Bank Account, you're getting a GB IBAN since the foreign currency isn't held in the Netherlands, but in the UK. You can learn all about operating with this cool feature here.
