What happens to my plan when my trial period ends?
If you don’t change your plan before the trial period ends, it will automatically continue, and you’ll be charged the monthly cost of €18.99 for the bunq Elite plan going forward. You're always in control, so you can switch your bunq Plan at any time.
To change your plan, simply follow these steps:
Tap on your Profile in the top left corner
Select Plan
Go to Switch Plan
Switch to a plan of your choice
If you decide to downgrade to a different plan before your trial ends, you'll be charged for your new plan after the free trial.
What if I don't use my Elite trial?
If you barely use your Elite trial when you sign up, no worries! We want you on the plan that fits you best, so if we see you're not using your bunq Elite trial to the full, we'll switch you to bunq Free for you. That way you don't have to worry about being charged for a plan you’re not usings.
30 days after your account is verified, we'll automatically switch you to bunq Free if you're still on Elite and all of the following are true:
You haven't made any outgoing payments from a payment account (transfers between your own bunq accounts don't count)
You have a positive balance on a savings account
You haven't ordered a physical card
You're not the primary owner of a Joint Account
You don't have a Child Account linked to your bunq account
You're not on a business account
You didn’t switch to another subscription plan
If any of these don't apply to you, you'll stay on bunq Elite and the usual trial rules apply. This means you’ll get billed for bunq Elite after your free month is up.
Of course, if you'd prefer to stay on Elite or pick another plan, you can switch anytime under Profile → Plan → Switch Plan.
Why do some features look different?
After switching to bunq Free, some bunq Elite features are no longer available on your account — for example, your physical cards and extra bank accounts. This is expected: your plan changed, so your benefits changed with it. You can go back to bunq Elite, or choose any other plan, at any time under Profile → Plan → Switch Plan.
What happens to my bunq Card(s) when my trial period ends?
If you switch to bunq Free, please note that you won't be able to continue using your physical cards. When downgrading, you will be asked to freeze your physical cards. We recommend freezing and holding on to your physical cards. This way, if you decide to switch back to bunq Elite in the future, you can reactivate your cards and start using them immediately!
Good to know
The trial period starts at the moment you sign up with us
If you don't actively use your Elite trial, we'll automatically switch you to bunq Free after 30 days so you're not charged for features you're not using. And you can switch back to bunq Elite anytime
