Lots of you are using rental car services. We’ve had a few reports of issues with the payment authorization at car rentals when using your bunq card.

bunq credit cards weren't accepted by some car rental companies, because the companies used their own special way of charging for their services. This didn’t comply with Mastercard’s and European Union’s regulations.

So can I rent a car with my bunq card?

We have great news for you! We’ve been working with Mastercard to solve this issue and from now on all bunq users can easily rent a car anywhere. Keep in mind that when you rent a car you make a pre-authorized payment. The pre-authorization is an acknowledgement to the merchant that the account has sufficient balance and a reservation for a certain amount of money was successful.
