How do I top up my account with a Credit or Debit Card?

  1. Click here or go to 🏠 Home

  2. Tap on Add Money

  3. Select Credit or Debit Card

  4. Fill in the card info and top it up 🎉

For euro accounts, we currently only support cards that originate from the EU. We're working on improving this coverage to allow cards from other countries to be used!

Having trouble adding money with a card?

It can be frustrating when a top-up doesn't go through as expected. If your card top-up failed, it may be because of a setting or restriction from the bank or company that issued the card: your card provider.

Here are some of the most common reasons and what they mean:

  • You've hit a spending or withdrawal limit.
    Most cards have daily or weekly limits on how much money can be sent. If you've hit this limit, your card provider will decline the transaction.

  • You've reached the maximum number of top-ups.
    Some card providers also limit how many times you can use your card for transactions in a day.

  • Your card provider has blocked the transaction.
    For security reasons, the bank or company that issued your card may block a transaction they don’t recognize.

  • We've blocked it for your security.
    If our security system detects a risk, we may stop a top-up to protect you.

If this has happened to you, the best step forward is to contact your card provider (the bank or company that issued your card) and ask them why the transaction was declined. They will have the specific details and can help you resolve it.

In the meantime, you can always try:

  • Using a different debit or credit card.

  • Adding money to your bunq account with another top-up method.
