Hey bunqers 🌈,
When your company's Directors change, it’s important to register this information in the official German Commercial Register — Handelsregister. This helps ensure that the right people always have the correct level of access to your Business Account.
Updating the registry is essential if you’d like to share Full Access to your Business Account with a new director or co-founder. For your account’s security, we use the Handelregister to verify their official role before we share full access to your Business Account. Once they’re officially listed, we’ll quickly and safely approve their new access level.
How can I declare this change?
In Germany, declaring any changes to your company structure is handled by a notary (Notar). The notary will submit the application to the Handelsregister on your behalf. This means that when you’ve appointed or removed a company Director, your main task to register this change is to engage a notary — they will handle the official process for you. This is what it looks like:
Prepare the Application: The notary will prepare the legally required application to register the change to your company's structure
Submit to the Register: They’ll submit this application to the Commercial Register, Handelsregister.
Update Your Record: Finally, the registry court reviews the application and officially updates your company's public record.
Disclaimer: This information is for guidance only and may be subject to change. Requirements can vary, so please consult a notary or legal advisor for advice specific to your situation.
Where can I check my company's official information?
While you can't submit changes yourself, you can look up and check whether the changes have been made official on the Handelsregister portal. If the change isn’t visible yet, we may ask you to provide supporting documents when you’re sharing Full Access to your Business Account with a new director or co-owner in the bunq App.
