Hey bunqers 🌈,
If your company Directors change, it's important to officially register this with the Spanish Mercantile Registry — Registro Mercantil. This keeps your Business Account secure and ensures that the right people always have full access.
Updating the registry is essential if you’d like to share Full Access to your Business Account with a new Director or Co-founder. For your account’s security, we use the Registro Mercantil to verify their official role before sharing the full access with them. Once they’re officially listed, we’ll quickly and safely approve their access.
How can I register this change?
In Spain, declaring any changes to your company structure is handled by a Spanish notary (Notario). They’ll formalize the change in a public deed called the escritura pública. So, once you’ve appointed or removed a company Director, your main role to register this change is to engage a notary — they'll handle the official process for you. Here’s what it looks like:
Formalize the Decision: The notary will formalize your company's decision in a public deed (escritura pública).
Submit the Deed: They will electronically submit the deed to the Mercantile Registry through the official Registradores de España portal.
Update the Record: Finally, the registry reviews the submission and officially updates your company's public record.
Disclaimer: This information is for guidance only and may be subject to change. Requirements can vary, so please consult a notary or legal advisor for advice specific to your situation.
Can I submit the change myself?
It isn’t possible to submit or formalize these changes without a notarial public deed. This is because the official online portal for official public record changes in Spain is designed for notaries and other authorized professionals.
