In case you lose access to or suspect another person has unauthorized access to your bunq account, you can secure your account by resetting your Security Code.

How do I reset my Security Code if I’m logged out of my bunq account?

If you were logged out of your bunq account, follow these steps to reset your Security Code:

1. Update to the latest version of the bunq app in the App Store or Play Store

2. Open the bunq app and tap on Get Started

3. Enter and confirm your phone number

4. Tap on Forgot Security Code?

5. Follow the instructions on your screen to verify your identity.

6. Choose your new Security Code and confirm it.

7. You can use your new Security Code to log into your bunq account.

If you are logged into your bunq account, follow these steps to change your Security Code:

1. Tap on your Profile in the top left corner

2. Go to ⚙️ Settings

3. Tap on Security

4. Select Change Security Code

5. Type in your current Security Code

6. Choose your new Security Code and confirm it.

What if I’m using bunq on multiple devices?

For your safety, all other active login sessions will end after you reset your Security Code. If you want to log into your bunq account on a new device, you need to again verify your identity. This measure enhances the security of your account, particularly if you suspect it has been compromised.

Things to keep in mind when resetting your Security Code

• Make sure you're logging in with the same phone number that you used to register your bunq account.

• If you're using your phone number to log in, ensure you can receive SMS messages and don't forget to enter the correct area code.

• If you choose to log in using your email address Just double-check that it's been confirmed. You can do this by looking for the confirmation email we sent you when you registered.

• Make sure you choose a strong password that doesn't contain your birth date or repetitive numbers.
