Hey bunqers 🌈,
Your bunq IBAN is Dutch by default, and it works everywhere, for everyone.
If you live in Germany, France, Spain, Ireland, or Italy, you can also get a local IBAN for your country. And you can always choose a Dutch IBAN with an International Bank Account.
Important: The International Bank Accounts 🌍 feature is available for bunq Pro and bunq Elite users only. Learn more about International Bank Accounts.
What’s a Dutch IBAN?
bunq is a European bank with a banking license issued by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB). So our standard IBANs are based in the Netherlands. You can recognize this when you see the NL in your IBANs 🇳🇱
Even if you're not Dutch, your Dutch IBAN is fully legal and accepted everywhere, by all authorities. If you ever experience any kind of discrimination because of your Dutch IBAN, you can report it, and we'll help. See how in our IBAN discrimination article.
How can I get a Dutch IBAN?
Go to the Home Tab
Tap on Add an Extra Bank Account
Select a Personal Account
Choose a Dutch IBAN under Local Settings
Personalize your Bank Account
All done!
